Preflight & JHA

BeaconUAV separates the preflight briefing from the broader Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) workflow, while allowing an organization policy to require the checklist before a flight can be logged.

Preflight briefing

The preflight flow can capture operational conditions such as weather, airspace class, LAANC reference, gates, and notes. Weather data comes from Open-Meteo when available; the pilot remains responsible for reviewing it.

Airspace and LAANC information is recorded as evidence. BeaconUAV does not file an authorization or verify a clearance with the FAA.

JHA checklists

On Pre-Flight JHA, choose a template and complete its sections and items. Critical items are identified in the checklist, and submissions remain available in History for later review.

Templates can be:

• a private routine for your own pilot workflow;
• an organization standard maintained by an authorized squadron administrator; or
• a district standard that reaches its eligible sub-squadrons.

Authorized administrators can create, edit, and remove templates from My templates. The checklist page shows the selected template, your submission and past checklists together.

When a checklist blocks a flight

A completed JHA is not automatically required for every account. If an organization enables the required-preflight policy, the flight gate checks for a completed submission before allowing the protected flight workflow to proceed.
