First-run tour

The first time you sign in, BeaconUAV opens a short welcome popup: take the tour, open your setup checklist, or just explore on your own. All three are equally fine answers, and nothing in the app depends on which one you pick. Take the tour and the app walks with you: each step opens the surface it is talking about, dims everything else, and points at the actual control while it explains it.

Nothing is a screenshot. The spotlight lands on the real thing: the callsign field, the Add gear button, the session logger, the rail row for a pillar. You can click what is highlighted while the tour is open.

When it appears

Once, and only once, for an account created within the last day. It is an invitation rather than a checkpoint: the dashboard never redirects you to the checklist, and exploring on your own is a complete answer. Finishing it and leaving it early both count as "seen", so it does not come back on its own, which is why replaying is one click away in Settings.

How it walks

1. The rail: every surface you can open has a row, and the rows follow your plan: nothing locked is shown.
2. The three setup steps: callsign, first gear, first flight, each pointing at the control that does it rather than describing it.
3. Home: the stat cards, and what each number is computed from.
4. One step per pillar you can open: Log, Fleet, Insights, Ops, CRM, Team, Safety, Classroom, Settings: the page opens and its rail row lights up.
5. Your setup checklist: where the same three steps are tracked from your real gear and logs.

Steps are filtered through the same entitlement rule the sidebar uses, so an account that cannot open a surface never gets a step for it. A free tier sees the setup steps, Home, Log, Settings and the hand-off; an org or commercial plan also gets Fleet, Insights, Ops, CRM, Team and Safety; Classroom appears with an education membership.

The tour moves as one continuous camera: the spotlight glides from each stop to the next and the dim stays up between steps instead of flashing off and back on. Steps whose anchor is not on screen, like the rail folded away on a phone or the checklist already finished, put the callout on its own in the middle and read the same. A step never dead-ends.

Leaving it

• Escape, the close button, or Skip the rest ends the tour. That is recorded as seen: the popup stays away, and your checklist is untouched.
• Finish on the last step, or the hand-off link to the checklist, records it as completed.
• The Back button walks the tour backwards; the app stays on whatever page the step you came from lives on.

Replay it

Open Settings and find the Getting started card:

• Replay the tour: starts the walk-through again, immediately.
• Replay the welcome popup: brings back the first-run popup itself.
• Open the checklist: the setup checklist on its own.
